its been too long eh? the blog isnt dead i just havent felt like writing in a while... that and spring break which i will get to in great detail at a later date if i feel like sitting for a few hours and letting loose. as for now theres something thats interested me. it seems to me that the term 'genius' is used a little loosely these days. its defined in some dictionary as one with exceptional talent, especially in intelligence etc... im sortof disagreeing here. i think that yes, a genius can be one who has talents in intelligence but also i would classify it more specifically. i would not classify a genius as one who excels or has special talent physically, say, a sport or something of that nature. i agree with the definition that a genius possesses special mental prowess but there are different ways this can be expressed. i would say that one kind of genious would be a person who can recall facts with no effort, one that can be specific when needed to provide the information. someone to win the deceased 'who wants to be a millionaire?' this is the kind of genious i would least want to be. i mean, not that its bad, but if i could be a genius, i would choose otherwise. another kind of genius would be one who could express himself with words. who can put thoughts on paper or in music, make concepts and emotions clear to generally anyone through their realization of their own emotions and their translation of this to paper or sound. someone who can make complicated inexpressible moods and waves expressed so, with the right perspective, even the village idiot could be amused. someone like this amazes me. there come many times when i cant find the words to say what i feel. those who have obtained the rhetoric, who have mastered the lingo, who have in general conquered the tongues of the philosophers and meshed it with the languages we can all understand so the apathetic masses can taste the sweet honey of the enlightened. even that hardly makes sense the way i said it. i would love to be one of those people someday. which brings me to my next genius. the one who understands, the enlightened, the empathetic. i hate the word enlightened but sometimes there are no alternates. there are people who just understand. from the shallow sense of successfully receiving into thought the concepts of the classes in school to the more coveted (to me) empathy of those who can take a glance at someone or speak with them, even feel their subtle melancholy vibes and understand everything. to know how it feels without experiencing it, to be in the same mindset and therefore to know how to help it. the only ones who can truly help those in need of a shoulder to cry on. those people are geniuses to me. last, those who i would call true geniuses are the ones to know what its all about and find a way to achieve it. the wise men. to me, all its about is enjoying life. tell me, what else is there? whats the point of anything else? you only have 1 life here so why not spend it an epic pursuit of happiness? a lot of the time this can be attributed to love, love of all sorts. those who can find the love in anything, those who can make light of most any situation but still appreciate the depth of it, those who possess irrepressible energy and an eagerness to find out what life gave them and always fight and scrap for something more. if not that, the wise ones who can sit under a tree for hours and enjoy the sunset, the ones who can smile looking at a blade of grass because its shade of green means its alive and well, those who can catch a butterfly without harming it and marvel at its beauty before freeing it, those who dont have to say everything that comes into their minds and be content with themselves in their lives. i was just on spring break in florida and i didnt smile more all week than when i came home to find that the trees near our house had started to bud and bloom... if theres a way to grow into one of these wisest of men, then why not? im not suggesting dropping school and becoming a content hobo hitching rides across the country, but rather, as always, looking at things in a different light and being content with life and overjoyed by the simple things that go underappreciated. if there ever would be a genius, he should be one to be able to conceive, express, and be content. after all... what else is there?
